While some of them are available at supermarkets and online, many are made in house in the kitchen of a family member or close friend.
They are sometimes sold as a dessert or dessert mix but most often as fish cakes.
The fish cake is a traditional dish and has been around for thousands of years.
Italian chef Paolo Di Natale, who is also a chef at a local Italian restaurant, has made several different variations on fish cakes, including the “cucumber” fish cake.

How much does a fish cake cost?
Fish cakes are typically made in small batches of around 100 fish.
For this recipe, we’ll be using a 500g fish cake that we purchased at the supermarket for €1.75.
That’s the equivalent of around £1.60.
But the cost of the fish cake varies depending on where you live.
It will usually cost around £3.00 for a 500 gram fish cake from the Italian market, and around £4.50 for a 200 gram fishcake from the UK.
We’ll be working out the cost using our local grocery shop’s online shop.
How to make a fishcake in your kitchenFish cakes can be made in your own kitchen, or you can cook them at home for a later occasion.
Firstly, take a small amount of flour and set aside.
In our example, we will be using the Italian-style flour which you can buy at your local supermarket for around £0.50 per 100g.
Next, add the salt and pepper.
If you’re cooking the fish cakes at home, add a little bit of water to get the flavours balanced.
You can also add some fresh herbs to the fish, such as rosemary, basil and parsley.
Mix the flour with the salt in a bowl, and then add the flour mixture to the eggs.
Finally, add in the eggs, and mix it well.
Cook for about 25 minutes, until the fish is set and cooked through.
We can also make fish cakes in the microwave, using two tablespoons of flour with 2 tablespoons of water.
Mix the ingredients and microwave for around 15 minutes until the batter is slightly runny.
Then turn out onto a plate and let cool.
